ORAL TIE SUPPORT COVERS:

During an oral motor, feeding evaluation, we will review your comprehensive medical/ feeding history, complete a feeding observation at the breast, bottle, and/or solids as well as a thorough oral motor assessment. This will help us determine if oral function is being impacted and assist with the diagnosis of TOTs.

Initiating Oral Motor Feeding Therapy is the recommended first step to addressing TOTs. This will help a baby gain increased mobility and control of their oral muscle movement patterns, and reduce tension in the mouth and body. It also allows parents to build confidence with practicing wound care stretches prior to a release. Treatment is recommended post release to continue neuro-muscular re-education to achieve optimal oral function for oral rest posture, breathing, feeding, sleep, and speech. This is recommended alongside an integrated team approach for best outcomes.
